Just back from the stripper Party.
The Stripper in question. Angelica Winters, was supposed to have another girl working with her but the other girl flaked out. Wow, imagine that, A stripper that flakes out. Anyway, she put on such a good show for the gentlemen (about 9 of them) that she made as much as two girls would have and was able to tip...

Okay, so the weekly open mic at Sugar's Coffee Bar is weekly...but not this week.
I'm organizing Features and getting publicity stuff together.
Next week.
Besides, I got a paying job tonight bouncing for strippers at a private party

So I had a chance to go over the drawings with my illustrator (who remains nameless for now...it's a secret) and I expect to have the book "The Mean Tree" available by September.
It's strange to see someone else's idea of your characters and situations. I was kind of expecting the illustrations to be nasty and bloody (it's a nasty, bloody story), but the drawings...

DANGER, DANGER, DANGER! POETRY ALERT.
The following is a rough draft of a piece I am working on. I need to cut it some more. It's a performance piece, meant to be heard not read. Feel free to skip it if poetry is not your thing.

I just got back into competetive poetry (slam and stuff like that) in the last month. I have a lot of performance pieces but nothing newer than about two years old.
I'm working on a new performance poem, working title is "Climbing Fucking Mount Fuji", it's gonna be one of my dead people poems.
Might post it here. At least an early draft.

I used to write a lot...and now i have started again and its hard...i used to write sestinas all the time but it has been months since i wrote one. i wrote them so much that they became the only form of poetry that i feel comfortable writing in.
I would like to see your poem posted here even if it is an early draft.
man, its so hard to get back into it for me though, i hope its not as hard for you.

I write every day. In fact I will have a story available very soon, that may or may not have the assistance of an SG...but that's a secret for now..
Give yourself a space to write...and write (not just stare at the page) for ...say...15 minutes. Do that every day. You will find the time expanding.
good luck. I want to read your stuff

So all of the slam poets in the bay area have left for St Louis for slam National competitions. I didn't go (I was invited to compete at The individual Nationals as a poet from Japan back in feburary, but I didn't go to that either)
So I'm about the only slam poet left in the area.
Mphhahahahahahahaha
My cunning plan is coming to fruition.

So I just got back from a Spoken Word show in Oakland, Tourettes without Regrets, hosted by Jamie Kennedy.
http://www.livejournal.com/user/jacklejaw/5757.html
Jamie asked me to read but I wasn't feeling it and just watched the show. But I did get to speak to some old friends, amazing performance poets, and got several of them to agree to do my little show at the coffee titty bar...

Wow, congrats!
I admire anyone who can get up on stage in front of people and perform (no matter what the art form). My bf gets a rush playing his guitar onstage.
But for me--it takes the life outta me whenever I have to do something like that--so I'm in awe of those who are drawn to it...

So bring your bf tomorrow and read something. I'll bet we can return life to you.

I was working for her, she wasn't working for me...so the only one that could be fired was me.
I've done about 5 parties for her and I have noticed one thing: There is always one guy that wants to talk to the bouncer all night...who I ususually end up selling one of my spoken word cds to.
