REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL

So it's the end of another week and what have we learnt? that I have something to look forward to. Just found out that we achieved our target at work ( which won't mean anything to anyone reading this, shit it hardly makes sense to me) which means I'm going to get an extra 80+ at the end of June or May not sure which one. Which is better than nothing, considering I worked 6 days this week I don't think it's been that bad. I have to say I'll be a lot happier when Easter is out of the way I'm really getting sick of hearing annoucements about special offers on Easter eggs and all the people that get in the way while looking at them.

HYPOCRISY ANYONE?

Had to go to a monthly briefing on Saturday that was fun, all about how the company is going to earn money for charity and anyone with any ideas should speak up, at this point I suggested the management should all take a 10% pay cut but apparently they're not that charitable. The whole thing reeks of hypocrisy the company director Justin "I'm one of the team, honest!" King goes on and on about how he wants to help people and give to charity but it's pretty obvious he's only doing it so the company can be seen to be helping a charity and giving to the needy and a good cause. It's pretty obvious he doesn't care about a bunch of kids starving in a dusty country somewhere as long as he's got his chauffeur driven Benz.

FILMS

So I got some new films this week from work (I usually get them there since I get a discount) my new additions to my ever expanding film library are:

Saw II

Which was good and an improvement on the first film I thought if a little confused in places. Tobin Bell is good at playing odd characters whether they're nice guys or sociopathic killers. It had a far better story this time around and didn't seem so much like a blur of snap cuts to get around a lack of plot. It was nice to see people not getting along and helping each other out which is what seems to happen in the majority films where people get stuck together somewhere because let's face it people are greedy and selfish and most would gladly sacrifice someone else rather than themselves.

Chronicles Of Narnia : The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would, I'm a big fan of fantasy type stuff whether it's Lord Of The Rings or Forgotten Realms so it's good to see Fantasy being treated with a bit of respect rather than being mocked and laughed at by the hollywood system. The battle sequence impressed me it's not up there with Lord Of The Rings in terms of size but the variety of races and creatures was good with a very cool looking(and well done I might add) Minotaur leading the charge for the forces of darkness. The initial charge of the cavalry of Aslan crashing into the army of darkness is an seamless example of fx work with an excellently done centaur charging through the ranks swords at the ready. This is based on a book for children though so there are things that bugged me like the fact they hadn't celebrated Christmas for hundreds of years in Narnia ( why would they if they have no concept of Jesus) but still well worth seeing.

DOOM

This was another film that impressed me, it's main strength being that it doesn't try to be something it's not. I thought it captured the atmosphere of Doom3 spot on and I don't hink there's anyone who looks more like a Doom commando than The Rock.
