Well the NHL started back up yesterday but my team didn't play until tonight. It was nice to see players actually play, even if we did lose
Oh well, it went to a shoot out but god to give up a three goal lead in the last 6 seconds of the game was disheartening.
But enough of sports I am almost finished the first Game of Fire and Ice book, Game of Thrones. Now I did see the HBO series before reading the book and I must say how impressed I am with the job they did. It parallels the novel almost flawlessly that is both rare and impressive and I can't wait to start the next book, and for the second season to start April first.
If you haven't ready George R.R. Martin's masterpiece I highly recommend the them. They are intense, deeply and well written, intrigue, sex, wars and you know, swords and knights and all that good fantasy stuff. But what really drives the story is the intertwining of characters. You really care about what happens to them each of their stories, and rather than numbering his chapters each one is named for the character that headlines in it. Not revolutionary by any means but still it makes me want to read that chapter more when it comes up.
Though I am trying not to care too much about the characters because from what I understand Mr. Martin has no problem killing any of his characters no matter how much you care about them. No spoilers I promise since I only know how the first book ends I can't spoil much anyway.
Have a good read.
