Today has been a long weekend. We are celebrating the massacre of Australians and NZ'ers at Gallipoli - Turkey during WW1. The british commanders sent us in to certain death as a diversion.
Death toll - over 8000.
It seems a strange thing to commemorate with a National Holiday. Each year the number of 'diggers' grows fewer and fewer. It has become a day of mourning and rememberance for those killed in all wars.

you missed quite a shindig yesterday, the festivities started sometime round 12:30pm and finished sometime round midnight..
