I'm horrible at updating here. I always have been, but It's been different for the last six months. I'm consciously selecting silence over complaining. I haven't had much good to say lately, so I'm not saying anything.
I have hope that Obama can change the tides of the economy, etc. But I'm not sure he can change individual people so that I'm not surrounded by self-righteous, myopic assholes. One of my students keeps to trying to criticize him for being a socialist. My only response is to point out where capitalism has gotten us. For years I've heard people justify capitalism by saying that socialism and communism look good on paper, but it can never really work because of the human elements of greed, sloth, and our tendency of wanting to take advantage of the system for personal gain. I would argue the same thing about capitalism.
