It's only Tuesday and I'm already sleep deprived ad behind at work. How will I make it to Friday?
But on another note, I've been thinking a lot lately about the blogs that I've been reading on here lately and there seems to be a common them in many of them. People who are not only wrapped up in negativity, but also people who are sick of the people around them being negative. One of my favorite things I've seen on here lately as to be credited to the lovely and magnificent Keri and her list of gratitudes. I think the power of positive thinking is important to recognize and celebrate. That isn't to say that bad shit doesn't happen, but is to say that sometimes the bad things are easier to deal with when we take time and make a deliberate effort to recognize the positive things that happen. If nothing else, it helps to keep me from wallowing and dwelling in the negatives.
The Gratitudes:
1. I had a great conversation about family life, love, and relationships with one of my students, which helped to remind me why I started teaching in the first place. It was kind of nice being able to talk to her about her relationship and what will happen when she goes off to college and be able to connect my own experience and marriage into the conversation in a real way that made more of a difference than what we did in class today.
2. At the same time, some of my students told me that what we did in class today made a big difference for them.
3. My wife is almost done with here semester of school so I may get to see her again soon. Our schedules have been so different and she has her last two papers due tomorrow (each is about 25 pages). So I'm excited to get to spend some time with her again.
4. I'm thankful that Keri helped me with the idea to refocus myself a bit.
