So i'm watching this thing on the History Channel about how Nazis escaped justice post WWII. It's fucking Craaaaaaazy! All these horrific people and evil dastardly villains escaped and one thing i've found out is that the Catholic Church had a lot to do with it. Fucking hypocritical asshole pricks. That and the lets protect priests instead of innocent boys thing has led me to believe i can no longer be a practicing Catholic. Well not that i was practicing all that much anyways (haven't been to church in about a year and a half and that includes Easter and Xmas) but still how can i associate myself with that?
A while back i was shopping around for a new religion but then i figured i don't care enough to go throught he hassle. And i also rememberd a quote from the book of St. Thomas (a Catholic Heretic) who said something along the liines of: "God is within you." I'm paraphrasing but the gist is that you don't need a building and a priest for god to hear you but that God is within all of us and can hear us.
Despite all of my cycism and scientific interests, i still believe in God but i don't know who's failed who at times--us for fucking up everything we touch or God for not showing himself more often and helping us out a bit. There's something to be said for those that help themselves, but there's only so much anyone can do when fighting the tides of Chaos. Oh what a world we live in.
I can't say that i feel that my belief in God has helped me out all that much in life or that my prayers have been answered, but thinking i'm not entirely alone in my darkest hours has helped much. I'm sure a lto fo the people on this site think Religion is stupid. But it's the people who follow misguided assholes, zealots and bigots who hijack the religion that make it stupid. Jesus didn't teach us that Gays will go to hell...he told us to love our neighbor and to make peace. The people who get that are the sorry fuckers who have to live with the rest of the asholes that don't.
I hope this wasn't preachy or anything...jsut my thoughts on religion which i haven't really delved into on this sight much. Well i'm about to hit the sheets so yinz all have a good night or afternoon depending upon whereever and whenever you are.
