Grading has got to be one of the most frustrating things ever. I always say I'm furious about what I DIDN'T learn in highschool, but this is ridiculous. I grade for a biology class, but spend all my time correcting grammar instead of focusing on scientific accuracy. The public school system is a joke, You wouldn't beleive how many people don't understand the concept of subject verb agreement. And I live in an affluent city. These are the schools that actually have funding.
I fear for the future of America...
P.S. Im not trying to come off all high and mighty. I don't know dick about History or Economics, and my spelling is atrocious, and I'm pissed about that as well.

My sister teaches high school and is worse. I helped her with some papers once. Subject-verb agreement and spelling was the least of their problems. She isn't supposed to be an English teacher, but I get the feeling that teachers a very lucky indeed if they get to teach in their specialty at public schools. Public schools do not run logically.
Oh, yeah, the other English teacher could barely form a sentence on paper when he wasn't stoned. Finally got him to resign or something.
