hello everyone...
today will be my first day alone as the animal relocation specialist. i've been in "training" for about two weeks now, i've seen how it was done in the past, and i am ready to take the job and make it my own. previous catchers were pretty mean to the dogs and cats around, and it was clearly demonstrated to me. as i've said before, my boss, who is a vegetarian, thought i would be the best for the job, because i am a vegan, and because it is more than a job to me. i did have some reservations at first, if any aspects of the job would conflict with my beliefs...and i was shown the other day how important it is that i do it right. i picked up a little black dog the other day, took him to the italian veternarian, who scanned it and found that it had a microchip, and was owned, and deserted by someone. that person who left their dog on the side of the road will be held accountable. italian laws are very strict and unmerciful about this.
i have to admit, it made me feel good. i just hope that i can make some difference.
oh, and i get my third and final rabies shot today, and i'm not looking forward to it.
the moms arrive saturday...we are going to try to keep them busy by planning trips to rome, vesuvius, pompei (sp), sorrento, and the amalfi coast. i am excited to see my mom, but not looking forward to keeping them (and their appetites) in check for an entire week. wish me luck!!!
i hope that everyone has a great holiday, anyone not near family or friends...i sincerely feel your pain. wishing everyone the best.
