I have to leave the house just before 7am, bleurgh. My mom & I are catching the 9am ferry to the mainland - I have an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon who will poke, prod & x-ray me and let me know when I can start walking again (or at least start physio... walking may take some practice, lol).
A girlfriend loaned me a big box o' entertainment for while I was laid up after my surgery - in said box was the first season of True Blood. I hadn't ever seen it before, and really only knew it was about vampires... and I'm not really into vampires so much. But, being bored as all heck, I decided to give it a... Read More
Really? Almost three weeks? Crazy! I am still sat up in the bedroom on the top floor of the house. I have a nice big tv and a bathroom I can get in and out of.
My staples came out a week ago, and that was kind of a yucky ordeal (no pics, don't worry)
Here I am on the eve of my hip surgery. I did all kinds of stuff at the hospital today - blood work, blood pressure, pee-in-a-cup and a LOT of question answering.
We ate food on the ferry, and again at IHOP (which is totally a luxury for us, because we don't have an International House of Awesome on the Island). I feel all bloaty... Read More
I'm nervous, but I think we're pretty well ready to go to Vancouver on Tuesday. Laundry still needs finishing (for packing), and the house needs to get tidied so I can navigate around in my wheelchair when I get home next week.
Tonight was a good night I wrapped something like twenty Christmas presents while watching cartoons. I'm still waiting on a few presents to come in the mail, but I think I am pretty much done
Sorry about the cat controversy. Not sure why anybody would return kittens. Already wrapping presents wow I haven't started shopping yet. Hope your surgery goes perfectly
Thanks everyone for your supportive comments on my previous blog
I'm at the 200 hour mark until surgery - just 8 days
The preparations are going well... I almost have all of my Christmas shopping finished. Tomorrow morning I pick up my wheelchair and, sigh, raised toilet seat. Heckler cleaned and rearranged our bedroom, so I will be able to navigate in there with my... Read More
It is nearly 3am and I am not asleep. I've been sitting in my living room watching Netflix and reading about people's experiences with the Ganz/Bernese Osteotomy (which I will be having in exactly two weeks' time).

My foster kittens Honey & Bee have been adopted. I might be a little bit sad. They went to a fantastic home where they will be loved, but man, I loved Bee so effing much. He was the coolest kitten! He came when I called his name, he loved to cuddle, and he was amazingly playful
It is also the anniversary of the car accident... Read More
I got the date for my mega hip surgery - November 23rd. A little over a month away.
I'm pretty stoked that it'll be this year (there was a chance I would have to wait until Spring), but I'm absolutely terrified. They start by breaking my pelvis, then they cut the bones, then they put everything back together with screws and assorted metal bits... and... Read More
