When I got home from work tonight mom called to tell me that my uncle bill died. i guess i knew he would pass away, but i didn't think it would be today. he was 55 or 60. - i have wondered at times what my response would be to a "death in the family" and now I finally have the first opportunity to find out.

I would actually be interested to hear what your response is to the death in the family, how you feel about it. So far I've only lost a niece and my grandfather, and both left me fairly **shrug** not to sound hard, but niether touched me at all, like it was a stranger.
