Arkham Nights is an event put on by Fantasy Flight Games. They are one of the bigger board game studios and they put out an entire line of horror games based on the Lovecraft universe of Cthulhu.
It was a great time playing a bunch of different horror games with new people and having access to the staff of the design studio. While I did miss out on playing the original 80's game by its designer, I got to play several of the current games with the designer or other team members which was a blast!
I was lucky enough to play a special unannounced event hosted by the designers of my favorite game, Arkham Horror : the Living Card Game. This is normally a cooperative game but they turned it on its head with a special story where we played against them! It was a retooled game that was truly amazing! This will be only ran for major events and I was in the second game for this 'thank you to the fans' from the designers... it was the highlight of the entire long weekend!
I am hopeful that I can go back next year... met great people, played great games, and got to thank the people that make my favorite games. Perfect weekend!
