This whole Dave Chappelle thing is really odd. It's a shame too, because after watching a lot of the season 2 episodes of his show on DVD, I'm reminded how brilliant his sketch comedy really has been.

He's buckled under the expectations that, apparently, he has placed on himself for season 3. He realized how good this stuff has been, and kind of panicked that...

yea, there are a few poli sci types around here. my primary interest is actually in urban politics, and within that the political behavior of urban types (especially as it relates to the built environment). i've got my other exam in the fall, and start working on my proposal around october.

so, what do you work on? smile
signalnoise:
oy there - i forgot to say last time: the dave chapelle thing IS totally weird and sad. i've heard he's a real perfectionist, so he might be a bit *worried* about topping himself. i hope he comes back. frown

anyway, your work sounds really cool. sustainable development is interesting stuff - even to a lowly urbanist (smart growth comes to mind as a possible parallel). can i ask: what your methodological approach is?

Whew! Just about finished with the house. The boxes are unpacked, furniture is in the right place, miscellaneous crap is in the attic. Things are finally starting to come together. We're still waiting on a couple of things:

1. We've got a leaky hose connecting the washer to the water. In theory, the plumber is coming by today to take care of that (as well...

I'm still here...honest. Sorry about not updating in a while.

I've been working harder this week than, I swear, I have ever worked in my life. For those of you not keeping up on things, we're in the process of moving into a new house. I've forgotten how hard this is.

The first thing I did, last Monday and Tuesday, was paint the master bedroom...

Well, this picture from the BBC Website of some Pompey fans in West Brom shirts may feed the conspiracy:

thanks for the condolences. we had a good time (all things considered) talking about all of the fabulous things that she had done in her 99 years - what a story!

good luck with settling in - i hate moving! i don't envy you there....

I like to read before I go to bed. As such, I usually keep a few books and/or magazines by the bed to read before lights out. On average, I probably read for an hour or so a night. So far so good.

What usually happens, however, is that my reading purchases seem to accumulate faster than my ability to read them in a timely...

Random thought day...will add as more things come to mind

I finally watched the film Quills. Much better than I expected. Geoffrey Rush is a very good (and underappreciated) actor. Joaqin Phoenix also was top-notch in this, and well, what can you say about Kate Winslet. She's not afraid to get naked, that's for sure. What is that, like five movies she's 'taken...

I finally got the opportunity to meet, face to face, a few of the SGNC crowd.

On somewhat of a spontaneous whim, I drove up the highway a bit to kitschy's place for movie night. I also was finally able to put faces with nicknames with kriss, not_tom, RaleighBoy, Perla, and Ardilla.

It's about a 90 mile drive from...

Get e-baying! I picked up a Pompey shirt for 99p! Mental!

Sounds like you had a good time. The regional meets seem fun I've been to a mini one, but a proper one will come soon...

Yay! It's the last week of classes, then final exams, and then summer. And, since I'm not teaching this summer, I should be able to catch up on some rest, maybe travel a bit, and who knows...I may even be able to get some writing done.

The week before finals is always very busy, though. I've got to write tests, finish calculating grades, do the...

Yeah, I've always been pretty sure that Condoleezza Rice is an evil robot.
mat8drb:
I love the fact that she has an oil tanker named after her. I was suprised that she stayed in the inner circle after the election, but she's here to stay. You need more scandals and uncertainty in your political system. Or a royal family to do all the dodgy quotes...
