OK. I usually don't geek out about American football for a couple of reasons:
1. I don't really like the NFL
2. My college alma mater (Vanderbilt) usually stinks.
However, so far this season has been great. Why?
Vanderbilt is 2-0.
Now, for those of you who are not-so-football savvy, let me put this into perspective for you.
*Last time Vandy began the season 2-0: 1988
*Last time Vandy won two consecutive road games: 1999
*Last time Vandy opened up the SEC with a road win: 1984
Futility. But this season things are going much better. Two road wins...both come-from-behind road wins. That's a very "unvanderbilt" thing to do.
Now of course, I am not screaming that Vandy will win the SEC. I'm too much of a realist for that. I've seen way too many collapses over the last 17 or so years I have been following the team to think we're going to go 9-2 this year. Hell, we could lose the next nine in a row.
But it's exciting. And a Vandy fan learns to savor the wins very quickly.
Vandy hasn't been to a Bowl Game since 1982. Is this the year? Ask me next week. This weekend's match vs. Ole Miss will be the key of the season. We win that one, we get at least six wins.

Wasn't Vandy the team a couple of years ago that ESPN did a special on because the coach didn't allow cussing.
As for Birmingham City They will come around but I hope they finish way behind Liverpool if ya know what I mean.
But dont get us started on our Basketball team!
