Bees. I was kept out of my house by bloody bees.
When I got home this afternoon, there was literally a swarm of twelve or fifteen bees buzzing around my front door, playing some kind of 'tag' game with one another. They weren't in the flowers or bushes or trees all around my house; no--they were blocking my front door.
I don't like bees. Never have. You might say I'm a bit of a sissy when it comes to them. I don't want do see them and I don't want them buzzing in my ears. I CERTAINLY don't want them blocking my door after a hard day's work. So what do I do?
I try to wait it out.
And I wait, and wait, and wait. Seriously. I sit there for 45 minutes, waiting for the damn cloud of bee death to disperse, to no avail. I think it was some sort of "Spring is here bee orgy," but I dare not speculate.
Finally, I decide to take matters in my own hands. I walk across the street, buy a can of bug spray, and proceed for the next 20 minutes or so to snipe them with Raid as best I could. I swear I got a few of them, but apparently their shields were up. It had no effect.
They laughed at me, in the buzzing, obnoxious way that only bees can. I emptied the whole damn can, and still, they laughed. And waited. For human flesh. Mine.
Another twenty minutes of waiting later, they seem to have flown away. And quickly, pacakges in hand, I rush to the front door, fumbling nervously with my keys.
And as I opened the screen door to put the key in the lock, a goddamn bee flew out and scared the living crap out of me. Apparently, it was trapped in that little space between the screen door and the front door, and boy, was it pissed.
I retreated like a little girl back down to my car, wondering what do to next. And as I looked up spitefully at the bee, all of his friends joined in the party once again.
Fortunately for me, the sun finally started to go down behind the house, and with it, slowly, the bees started to scatter, one by one. Finally, when I saw not a bee one in the porch area, I bolt for the door, put the key in, open it, and leap inside, shutting the door quickly behind me.
I was home, safe, and damn thirsty.
Damn bees.
