Arrived safely in Hawaii yesterday. Everything is going well so far!
The weather is perfect--low 80s, sunny, breezy. Mountains on one side of me, the ocean on the other.
One of the things that I knew to expect in Hawaii, but didn't really realize to what extent until I got here, was the tremendous diversity on the island. There are tons of polynesians, Japanese, and Chinese here, although Japanese seem to be the most common. It's very neat--it's almost like being in a foreign country.
I look forward to exploring the area over the next three weeks--it should be a blast.
