YES! I'm going to Germany!
Most of you by now know that I'm a pretty hard core soccer fan, and I applied for World Cup tickets for this summer in Germany. Well, lady luck has smiled upon me.
Now, before anyone gets too excited, we only got tickets for one game--the USA versus Ghana in Nurnberg on June 22. I tried to get tickets for all three USA games, but allocations were very heavy. In fact, only somewhere between 5 and 10 percent of the ticket requests got filled.
So, while I'm a smidge disappointed that I didn't get everything I wanted, I'm thrilled that I'm going at all. My hopes were pretty low. Now, if my luck continues, the Yanks will win either against Italy or the Czech Republic beforehand and make this game really critical. If both teams lose their first two before this, it could be a bit anticlimactic.
I'm going to buy and extra team USA jersey and hope I can find a Ghanan willing to swap out. That would roXXor!
Getting all three games would have been nice, but perhaps prohibitively expensive. Prices will be a bit inflated that month, and five extra days, give or take, would have put incredible stress on my wallet. (see me trying to rationalize here?)

One game is great. And we'll spend a few extra days there and see the sights. Right now, I'm hoping to do a Bavaria circle by traveling south on the Romantic Road through Rothenberg ob der Tauber and to Neuschwanstein. Then back north through Munich before heading back to Nurnberg.
But we'll see. I've got a bit of time to plan. Two trips to Europe within three months of one another. I'm getting spoiled.
