China is apparently not run by idiots. They're now saying they want to help out in Iraq -how nice of them. The U.S. spends half a trillion dollars occupying Iraq (to say nothing of lives lost) and now China wants to rebuild the oil infrastructure. They get to step in and look like the good guys. No responsibility for the bloodshed and chaos -just a politically disinterested and ambivalent oil consumer wanting to help. Brilliant. Meanwhile they've spent a massive amount on their military to modernize without getting involved in any pesky regional conflicts.
Absolutely brilliant.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to live in China. I just think on the global stage and in terms of foreign policy we're being made to look even worse than we really are. And frankly I'm disturbed that that's even possible.
