I think that I just might steal your fantasy. Hmmmmm...but I'd make it four!!!

Let's see... Mr. Hot Air Balloon owns a custom framing shop - a one man gig that puts out incredible work, but is just keeping its wee little head above water. Currently, I'm working two part-time jobs and crossing my fingers to get an assistant-editor position at a magazine I hate. So, yes, I'm still poor. And unfotunately, skiing tends to be an expensive sport if you do it right (even when you have your stepmother's hand-me-down skis, boots, and poles.)

And since you were a sit-and-get-fat-in-the-winter-Canadian, have you found any change in habits since moving to Australia? One of my part-time jobs is at a brand new arthouse movie theatre, and we sell TimTams.. cookies directly from "Auz." Do you know them? Good stuff, but I don't think I'd pay the import premium.

It's lovely that you were able to travel so much, and by the sound of things, I'm guessing you married an Australian? That's good, you got someone who can speak the language! Tee hee.

Which reminds me how you said they don't really grill shrimp (I wonder who coined that phrase)... is the country very vegetarian friendly?

well, i do believe there is a french club here. i just happen to be the somewhat anti-social type. rather, it was easy to be in various spread-myself-thin organizations in college, and i just haven't gotten around to it in the real world. (and although i have done my share, i think i've fallen a little short of my november 2004 resolution to do anything and everything in my power to fight our president simply because i haven't joined any clubs.)

i've been fortunate enough to study in europe through a couple of programs: one, during one summer in high school - a seven week home stay with a family in france, plus classes, and we weren't allowed to speak a word of english the entire time. the other, my alma mater has a campus in luxembourg, so i did a semester abroad and spent every weekend in a different country. fortunately, i didn't have to learn luxembourgish because the people speak mostly french.

funny about languages, isn't it? i've never learned a third language, but i definitely believe it would be hard to keep them straight. i've tried to communicate with people who know 5 and 6 languages, and it gets tough! the best part about learning french, though, was that it helped me understand english so much better - even grammar.

i had the biggest crush on australia when i was growing up. tell me about life in the great big Oz, please.
