I was assuming that the relative silence on the game's board was a sign the dev didn't care about the feedback being presented. Also because the responses tended towards the yes we've thought of that but this isn't the games true vision.
So after playing through what they had to offer and doing so blind to really understand the game's design and systems.. It feels kinda like drama to have posted to the forum.. That looked to have been silent for 3 to 4 months and have the dev finally appear.
He posted things that supported the project, as he should, but then he's like well don't be sarcastic. In response to my comment which was, if you ever get a steam launch, I think he missed the point.
In my being sarcastic. The game that was presented had potential but they sold it. Having sold the game in a beta state to me many they have money already so they don't need to care about our feedback.
But saying that I don't find it likely they'd release to early access on Steam is more about my not believing in the game. Or the dev team for that matter.
He claims he, and the team, was busy due to the holidays. This means there will likely be more updates and responses on the board.
Even so.. The board is very dead.
He also said it was a mistake to have not gone directly to Steam for the games beta. Well yes.. Der, but what now?
There are too few people offering meaningful feedback because I really think they can't separate what the game is and what they know of already and want it to be.
Having 26 mostly very long posts in the couple of days on the board that seem to mostly criticize the games limitations and lack of features might make it seem like I don't believe in it. One person even responded that I write too many words that aren't helpful. :/ yeah and? That comes from seeing hundreds of projects fail. Devs that could have implemented good ideas but failed to. Devs that had bad design and failed to listen to feedback. Feels like look.. If you can listen to feedback and you want to filter and classify it.. Go ahead.. The project will fail. Again. You have the money from our buyin already.
I can't say I've seen enough responses from them to judge yet.. And I haven't seen any updates so I don't know what types of things they can change. But on the other hand the forum responses from the other users is worrisome. Mostly praise for great ideas and awesome graphics.. Where the game verges on being quite hopelessly ugly and yes, it does have some good ideas, those few things that could set it apart don't work very well.
The difference in the responses that matters is when players understand the systems and suggest improvements.
When you just say hey this doesn't work! That tells me you don't understand that it might not work they way you think it should. When you understand what a system is supposed to do and still see that there's an issue then do provide feedback. Instead they are like No! You don't understand! It doesn't work!
Fml.. Why are people so defiant, defensive and determined to be so closed minded and right about everything?!
