So there's a Zombie walk today and I'm supposed to go. Given that last week was hell. I tired. Not too tired to go.. but just way too tired to care.
Aside from that, I hate computers. Probably because I'm still at the grunts and clicks stages of computer programming. Like.. having spent so much time around computers I know their ins and outs, how to assemble and configure and such.. but not even close to mastering code.
As such I've given up the self imposed boycott of learning to code. Something that I started way back when my uncle asked us kids if we wanted to learn VB. Should have been gung ho about it because my uncle is a code analyst and a pretty important software firm.. we'd have been rolling in cash by now.
But back then, as now, it was obvious that coding is a devoting and it requires passion.. having too much of that I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of coding. That only became more clear after testing games. It would have been a hindrance they said to know the code while trying to test objectively. As if they know. It would have been so much easier.
So I kept my coding level to grunts and clicks.. the dos commands and batch files. Thankfully I have a fairly relaxed box that doesn't mind so much that I explore those batch commands. But for my poor boycott it means I'm learning ways around problems through code. Like SG's new policy, and good for them, of making it tough to download entire sets. This was compounded by IE11 Windows 8.1 making it hard to even locate the darned cache. Which annoys me because if I'm supposed to be learning those batch commands and the folders are there somewhere, I need to burn this complacency blanket and get back to mastering computers.. not just using them. Means Un-hiding hidden folders and getting Windows 8.1 to work with me not against me. Though it tries.
So.. now that that silly problem is solved.. there's still the small issh of what to do? The other half of not coding what if I did start to code, with all the stuff that I could create.. web, mobile apps, windows apps and programs.. where to start playing catch up on the more than a decade of wasted time?
When my friend first introduced me to SG one of the first things I tried was making a Windows Media Player playlist using the links to pictures on the site. That was a 5 minute thing since the link structure was easy to figure out.. maybe it would be a good practical project to make a new batch file to generate such a playlist.. now to see if it is possible to parse just the photo links from the internet cache and then generate a playlist with the same file. Doesn't sound as fun as it used to.
