playing my mass effect, minding my business. game kicks me out. Claims EA servers are unavailable right at extraction.. try to log back in. EA servers are unavailable.. try something else.. something is sucking my bandwidth to all hell. Kill Origin.. everything is right as rain with bandwidth. Load the game up.. EA servers unavailable. Try again. In, no problem. Then why the hell did it boot me out of the game in the first place? server went down for 3 minutes my ass.
I mean this after contemplating the Leviathan DLC but backed out after it asked me to buy points. Forget it. I'm not buying another thing through Origin if I have to stop and buy points first.
I was about to question Windows 8 and Origin being an avoidable mess (stay with windows 7) or a conflict of interest because MS is trying to pimp the Xbox Live aspect of their Windows 8 interface, allowing you to have the same account for console or PC and have that account reflect the same single persona gamerscore as opposed to the spaghetti-confetti that's an Origin ID. That probably won't work for EA's PC games because they require Origin and I'm fairly sure will flatly ignore live tiles and Xbox Live ID (even when linked to the Origin ID). I'm thinking the more crap they, both frankly, but EA in particular, try to get away with regarding Origin and Origin ID the more torn some people will be for keeping Origin running on their systems (just don't do it).. versus dumping support for EA games.
I just don't understand why. Why is the damn client so bad and the online service in general and you can't play your games without Origin lurking in the background sucking up resources. Sigh. TOFTS
