I am an extremely prickly, shy, and I vet people I talk to quickly, honestly probably to quickly. I have been known to judge a book by it's cover and thankfully been proven wrong. I am harsh as a defense mechanism. So I look for certain qualities in a person that they are able to hold true and keep for a long time, and that they won't just drop the façade a couple months into the friendship.
Honesty is probably my number 1 - reason is simple who wants a friend that is always going to lie to you, I would want someone to tell me when I am wrong and that feels comfortable enough to be honest and able to share things, like talk about life.
Kindness - This is another huge one for me. If you are toxic, and rude you are out of my life. I have made the decision to cut toxic people out of my life quickly.
Weird - you gotta be just a little bit weird in a good way to deal with me. I am weird and a menace, especially when I get comfortable in a friendship. So if you ain't a little bit crazy, I don't know if it would work our.
There are probably a ton of more qualities but I think those are my big ones.
