Thanks so much for the thanksgiving wish. I actually worked thursday and friday. Wasn't bad. The hospital provided a thanksgiving dinner for us. Then I got some leftovers from the family that babysat Ellison.
Frankly, that this point in life, the holday pay trumps the holiday cheer.
Hope you got that long nap on the couch. I'm trying to hope that you got the pumpkin pie also, but at our age...
So, Madonna played at the big Wachovia Center in Philly last night. That's the same place the Sixers play ball, so that's the kind of venue you're looking at. Heard on the radio the ticket prices were....get this....
Upper deck--$57--$107 per seat. Lower deck and floor---$107 to $307 PER SEAT. One floor seat was $307. WTF??????
I mean--Madonna is...or WAS...important to pop music. She's an... Read More
There was a concert promoter in Boston back in the day named Don Law and some friends invented a Rock and Roll anti hero they called MadonLaw. I don't remember anything else about it but every time I hear or see her name I hear "MadonLaw" and laugh.
I am a huge Madonna fan. I have never seen her live but do own the The Confessions Tour DVD and thought she performed well in it.
But that is a lot of money to pay for some old tunes. I know she complained at one time that so many fans request her old stuff.... maybe she was pandering to those folks.
In any case sorry the tickets were so expensive and didn't hit expectations.
Thanks, everyone, for kindness and hugs and the "been there and know how you feel." It helped me feel better. I'm not so whiny today--though I do like being a fine whine, Sweetbutch!
I'm too tired to blog, but wanted to move along from the negative one. So here's a favorite and entirely true movie quote to ponder..... From Easy Rider
I wanted to say how much I appreciate your insight and patience with me during my seemingly endless revelations about my life. You've made a real difference.
I have to say this has been a roller coaster of a week and I'm drained. We're moving into the end of the semester, and my workload is in overdrive. I teach writing classes, and they raised the number of students allowed in my classes. What they don't think about when they do that, though I've said it to them over and over again, is... Read More
My goodness what a time.....SSA can be a royal PITA, but they are usually helpful. I've lived in my car at a few darktimes so I feel your pain there! Thanks for recognizing my all time favorite cowboy, Jack Elam!
He was not even an actor when he hit Holly wood, he was an accountant! Good luck, Peace Bill
I had to work most of voting day, so I was periodically checking online. Voted early and drove from the polls to work for a 12 hour day.
I'm an old enough geezer to have been a kid in the South when there were still water fountains and bathrooms marked "Coloreds Only" above them. There were sections in most of the small towns around where... Read More
Just wanted to come by and give you a cyber-hug. I don't think your question in Geezers was out of line and I was astonished by the vitriol in the responses... on both sides of the fence... and the melee that then ensued. Very disappointing. But then I usually expect people to make an attempt to do and say the right thing. Ha. More fool me. And I'm not saying I expect them to agree with me-- I welcome a difference of opinion if we can learn something from it or at least learn to live and let live.
Here in California gays have lost the right to marry by only 2%. It is mind blowing to me that we can be progressive as a country to elect a Black man as President. But move backwards in my state. I honestly don't understand how people can justify discrimination and elitism based on their "faith" or 'religion."
The new kitten is becoming the kitten-with-no-name. "Sasha" has been bandied about because Neo likes the name and is acquaintances with Sascha from KMFDM. I'm having some problems making the transition from KMFDM to this tiny little girl kitty who has a whole vocabulary of noises and squeaks and mumbles....but, eh.... We have pets named Enzo, and Taj, and iguana named Felix, so what the... Read More
So we're fighting windy storms here in Jersey tonight. Our outside kitties are all holed up in the dog house I bought them, staying dry (I hope.) Weather change gave me a migraine and Neo's starting to feel the kind of pain he deals with every winter. As a chronic pain patient from a car wreck 15 years ago, he feels cold weather in his... KItty spay/neuter circus mostly over.... No big problems except I couldn't trap mama cat. So, she's still a free agent. I tried everything, got scratched up for it, etc. The trap thing sprung when she rubbed up against it, so she wouldn't get near it again.
Neo had taken his mom to the doctor very early that morning and been with her all day, so... Read More
Again you are such lovely people. Spending your hard earned cash on stray kitties, a lot of people wouldn't do it. Very generous of you, which doesn't surprise me, you two are such selfless kind people. So good luck with mama kitty, hope you catch her, i know what you mean about the scratching...ouch! Hellcat, our kitten, is a vicious little thing! I'm telling you i look fucking emo from all the scratches and bites on my hands and up my arms, I'm not digging it! And the ear thing? I've never heard of that before either, sounds a bit brutal! But at least its all done now!
Hope your all doing well. While I'm here, whats the name of Neo's son's band? He told me and I was gonna look it up but forgot all about it. Head like a fucking sieve I've got!
Happy to have the weekend here, though I've got papers to grade and Neo's working on two new paintings--one of our lovely ValGal from here. (check out his site. I think he posted it as a work in progress, which he usually doesn't do.) He'll be on to Amilie and Jewelz some time later this Fall, I think. With the track season over, he's back... Read More
Now I have to go and type it in AGAIN .
I was going to post 'Jees luky Dads busted us', until I saw it
was Locked. How did transporting 'blenders full of razor blades' [ catS ]
in a car work out for you? No significant lose of blood?
That is a real wine.
Finally, a small bit of virus-from-hell recovery--though I think Neo has it now. Sore throat, the works. I have Fall Break from school this Monday and Tuesday, and neither one of us can get well enough to enjoy a couple extra days of free time. We had a trip to Cape May planned. Booooo. Bad Virus. Bad!!!
Nothing much else going on around here. We're... Read More
Yucky crappy sick stuff I think I had a yearly reoccurrence of Valley Fever. I almost convinced myself it was either a brain tumor, spinal meningitis, or the aftermath of alien abduction
i like how you said you use your power to stay out of trouble. i think intuition is a wonderful power, and i personally believe that adults and girlfriends try and get you to distrust your internal instincts and use your head more.
at least that is true in my case.
i have strong spidey sense, especially about lust and love and other powerful feelings. not hard to read.
so when someone has a crush on my spouse, i usually know it before she does.
and when she has wanted to do something without telling me, especially if it involved accomplices, i always tended to know.
so she tried to get me to stop listening to my spider sense, but i wised up, and use all god gave me to make my way in this world.
Me and the Old Man
By Luky
I have fallen for an old man. Gray-white, sparse hair and wrinkled folds, drooping skin and sagging balls, eyes yellowed as parchment, his lips have almost disappeared from his face. Nothing more now than deep lines and a thin shade of pink. He isn't rich. He doesn't have genius to pass along to me. He smokes,... Read More
Thinking we have something to say, is a real problem that we share.
I think your avatar is "kickin," and I think I like you, I like your style, for sure.
I relate to the need to write, I used to write, like, a lot;..... spent 6 yrs. on a manuscript.
I finally destroyed it after getting a mega-block, and became tired of feeling like a fraud, everytime someone asked about my book.*
*(NEVER<NEVER<NEVER, tell anyone what you are writing, they will murder it, kill your impotess, and leave you totally blocked and shamed.)
Tons of papers to grade already. Yeah, I have a three day work-week on campus and, yeah, I have summers off, but the part no one sees except Neo because he lives with me is the stacks and stacks of papers I read DAILY for HOURS. My job only looks easy. Ha.
Okay, got that out of my system. We continue to have some issues... Read More
