Being home has been quite nice. I haven't had a whole lot of purpose the last five days or so but that's been nice. I'm not complaining. I understand. People come to grad school with all sorts of different backgrounds. My cluster at school contains Neurobiology as well, so we get people with psych degrees coming in as well. I can't imagine a situation in which someone who is good in physics couldn't catch up to the biology. I know there's a lot of people interested in lipid dynamics in membranes. That's a big part of biophysics right now. Perhaps the Biophysical Society's website would have some information on general research areas. Specifically, you can look at the various subgroups within the society to see what broad areas of concern there are. Also, if you have access to Biophysical Journal online or elsewhere you could read through that to see what's going on. Finally, if you're interested in graduate study, just start checking out departmental websites at various universities to see what the faculty research interests are.
