I adore the collaborative effort that is folk art. When making high art, I find collaboration tedious. Sharing ideas and visions requires a very certain union of people, and generally I always found it much more pleasant not to collaborate, but to just hire people that I could instruct, pay them, and not include them as credited contributors to the piece, (but rather just performers). But in folk art, it seems so much more permissible and possible to really collaborate. She will sculpt it, he will make a mold of it, another she will pour it, another she will paint it, another he will do the detailing, and she will sell it, to another she, who will adore it and proudly display in home and on shelf, where it will be loved for years and never once thought of for a second by the masses who frequent high art galleries. There is, absolutely, something wonderful and overlooked about the folk arts. I could lose myself drawing baby hairs.

(The really confusing part is that I don't just type in academic and often hard-to-follow prose, I speak that way too!)

Thank you, for the birthday wishes. I got so many more here than I did in real life. I guess if a tiny balloon was over my head all day I'd have gotten more. Anyway, thank you. Really.

We went out to two fancy restaurants! The first one was lovely, an old barn turned in to a fancy brunch place. It had lots of people there talking loud and that made me nervous. We had a wonderful breakfast in between the little panic attack. I don't try to look miserable in public, but I guess sometimes it happens by accident.

Later we went to another really fancy restaurant and I got to wear my big fluffy pink dress.

It really was very nice. I'm feeling somewhat revitalized, or at least less desperate. Right before my birthday we had a weird wind storm and a tree fell and (by some miracle) bounced off of the lip of the roof, grazed my bedroom window, and came smashing down on the yard. I must be protected by some sort of force-field. This is a very good thing, I think.

Big wonderful. That's all I want, I hope this is the year I'll find it.

kiss Have a wonderful week, kittens.
