Death Note is a really good and different story.
Last Exile is good steampunk alternate reality stuff.
Lain is a total mind fuck. So is Ergo Proxy. And so is Elfen Lied.
Mongolian Chop Squad is a guilty pleasure.
That's assuming you haven't checked any of those out yet. Myself, I'm going to check out Witchblade. I heard mixed things and I want to see for myself.

I'm super stoked. Tonight is the Hairbanger's Ball concert. they're this 80's cover band from Chicago. Looks like I'm gonna hit the show with some co-workers, and get my drink on. I wonder where the night will lead me?
