Eric should have not gone and hung out with his ex. He should have been sensitive enough to know that this would cause an issue and should have respected your feelings enough to not have done this. It's not cool for him to have done this. Doesn't matter if anything happened or not, he should have thought about how you'd feel first. To me, this indicates a lack of respect for you on his part, and that shit nobody needs. Communication is essential in any relationship, as is being able to consider how your actions will effect your partner.
It is easy for me to say it, but I would move on. I know it's not easy to do this so just make sure you protect and take care of yourself, first and foremost.
