Awesome. By which I mean the total opposite thereof. I'm sick, and I was woken up earlier than I wanted to be this morning by a call from the electrician who was supposed to be here yesterday. He's coming today. I will now be late for, or possibly miss, two appointments, for which I'll have to pay out the ass because I didn't observe the...

I hope you were able to call and maybe get some sympathy and have it moved. Sometimes if you call they are nice to you.

I had to borrow $14K from my mom after one really bad year. Still paying it back.
lyrical:
I'd be happy to help you with that. I did my hair on my own. With a little help for the back of course.... let me know lola biggrin

You know what's really frickin' adorable? I spoke to my brother on the phone today. He teaches 6th grade, and he told me that some of his students frequently stay after school to talk to him, and he doesn't understand why. When I asked him if the students who stayed after were female, he paused for a moment, then he said, "Yes." He didn't realize...

Where were the nymphets when I was in 6th grade? Probably hanging around the science teacher's home room.

Unless they were waiting for me to clue up, of course....
wsoxfan:
Crush or not, their feelings toward your brother could have a positive effect on these girls' desire to learn. As he continues to behave in a professional manner, his students will likely change their focus toward academics instead of "puppy love".

Over the years, I've been on dates with a few different male doctors. I decided at one point to never date another doctor again. The surgeon I went out with tonight reminded me why: male doctors seem to think that simply the fact that they're doctors will make you want to sleep with them. REJECTED!

Wow, those doctors think that just the fact they are doctors will get them laid? That sounds familiar....like those CEOs in Wall Street thinking the same thing. frown

Those doctors aren't really doctors, then. They are forgetting one thing...they have to heal people not only physically, but also mentally. Getting a one-night stand won't exactly do wonders for the other person. I do appreciate the work they do, but I think that being humble will make them help the society, not just one patient at a time. : )

As for the opera, thank you very much for the info! I totally forgot that the Met had operas. biggrin

I know that saying this is really unfair to some people to my life, and I'm not actually ungrateful, but there are moments when I feel ignored or unimportant and I think, "Now that my grandmother is gone, no one cares about me."

I care. In the short time I've known you, It's become obvious to me that you're a decent and caring person. Just the kind of individual that I want to have as a friend.

My old lady neighbor is adorable. She knocked on my door today to say hello and commented that I looked nice. After I thanked her, she gestured to indicate what she was wearing, which I would describe as hideous but comfortable. "This is how I dress. I done got mine already," she said.

I hope I have that kind of confidence when I'm in mumus. I suppose I will, because if I'm ever in those things it'll probably mean I've got dementia.

A close friend of mine emails me every day with a picture of a bunny and a quote culled from who-knows-where. I liked today's quote:

"You don't have to suffer to be a poet; adolescence is enough suffering for anyone."- John Ciardi

My apologies for being away - I've read all of your journals as they get posted - and I'm sorry to hear about your grandma.

Hope things are doing better for you. kiss

Your comment was very comforting. Thank you.

I certainly recognize the need for emotional support. I know full well where I would be without it. Not in a good place, believe me. That includes the support from my friends on SG. I'm glad you're a part of that.

"Stocks Gyrate as 2 Wall St. Banks Falter." This headline confuses me. Gyrating is for happy times, not economic recession.

I sang this song at the funeral today. I don't know how I got through it, but I did it somehow.

*
We'll meet again,
don't know where, don't know when,
but I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

We'll smile on through,
just like we always do,
til the blue skies come and chase the clouds away.

Won't you please say hello
to...

That's the thing about being alive, you get to surprise others, and sometimes even yourself. Finding some of your own inner strength is one of those moments.

Tomorrow is my grandma's viewing. Saturday is the funeral. They're going to be two very difficult days. With her gone, I feel like there are very few people left I can trust. My grandmother loved me unconditionally. No one else has ever been like that. Hopefully I'll rally, but life feels meaningless right now.

Time heals...

You'll find the people who love you unconditionally if they aren't a part of your life already. Just let the world know how wicked cool you are and the right ones will line up at your door...

In the meantime, hang in there. It does get better.

errance:
I'm so sorry hun... hang in there... thoughts are with you. xox
