We're finally supposed to warm up and clear up this weekend, just in time for Pride Weekend!
I'm hoping to do the Pride Parade... but I've told myself that several years in a row now, and never gotten there
And of course now I'm dithering about What To Wear!
In warm weather, the wig gets to be a nuisance -- my head is right at the upper limit of "standard" wig sizes, can't tighten the straps... over the length of a parade, it would surely slip, often My real hair is finally reached shoulder-length again, but it doesn't look feminine enough... and I surely don't need a random co-worker with a camera watching the parade and spreading unmistakable pictures of me around work!
(I should say that the Human Resource people at work have been great to me over the years -- but I've just gone ahead and worn borderline clothes that would be hard to object to; I've never approached them to see what the policies would say about me wearing a skirt to work. I guess I have the sneaking suspicion that the answer would be "We won't stop you if you were to do this, but we recommend against it" rather than "No problem; if it should somehow become an Issue, then we'll issue reminder memos and hold seminars about respect!" My workplace prides itself on its ethnic diversity, but I've never heard of the larger organization dealing with TG; although the umbrella organization over ours has coped with some transsexuals transitioning, I have no plans to transition.
