I've just been working my ass off on something that is wholly worth the effort.
My friend and employer spent all of last year writing a piece which is essentially an Appalachian retelling of Beowulf. It is a piece pregnant with all the contradiction and complexity of southern religiosity. The sense of mythology is beautiful to me. The layering is beautiful to me. The constant seamless blend of live traditional music from Lauralynn Dossett and Riley Baugus of Polecat Creek is beautiful. I havent been this proud of a production since Marisol.
Since I last updated I also fell for a dude. It was swell while it lasted. He was sweet and young and nieve and pure and truely good. But I have terrible habit of picking up puppy dogs and boy scouts. I knew I couldnt keep him but being the bad guy makes me feel so old.
