What do you do when your friends become your enimies.........
Set the way-back-machine for a few months ago: Vegas hockey tournament. I was relegated to securing the rental car for our little group. Yoshi assured me that they (the click that he represents) would split it with me, equal shares. No problem, I trust them (thats my first mistake).
So I book my own flight and the rental truck, but when I get to Vages National fucks up the reservation. So, I walk over to Alamo and try and rent another. No big deal, I can roll with the punches. I get a good deal for my troubles, and things are good (or so I belived).
Flash forward a week. My other room mate; Yoshi's grilfriend won't talk to me or even acknoledge my presence. No big loss. She's not really all that nice a person anyway. So for alittle over a month she gives silence.
So I catch a ride with them to the first game of our rollerhockey season. With no prompting or provocation she lets me have it: I talked some shit. So she's pissed at me. Out-fucking-standing. If I had known I was back in high school, I would've worn my old Metallica shirt for the occation. Oh well.
So back to last week. I bring up the subject of compensations for the truck rented, and I recieve a note from Dave (Louis Black meets Charlie Brown) saying how I should pay him for the hotel room first, and how he should be excempt from one day of the rental, because I returned it the day after He , Yoshi, and his grilfriend left.
Now part of the "deal" the guy at Alamo made for me, was infact one free day. Dave has all the personality of an empty bottle of Miller High Life. He is also very non confrontational. He claims he sent me an email outlining the cost of the hotel room, I never recieved it. And Being an IT administrator I can back that claim up, I keep all my emails.
Dave actually thought I was trying to rip him off. I tryed to explian to him what my position on this was, and how the implication of impropriety on my part was not only hurtfull, but completely baselsss. I offered to pay him for the room anyway, but he still won't tell me how much it is.
Yoshi and his grilfriend are both not talking to me now. So be it. I knew they weren't going to honor the agreement anyway.
It's like the tatoo read: Integrity above all else. If I say I'll do something, I sure as shit do it, or fail in the atempt.
When did Honor become a dirty word?
