I got my custom throw pillow from Fenchurch with Van Gogh's Starry Night on it yesterday. This picture totally does not do it justice, it's totally beautiful. I did not realize I just said totally twice.
I don't know what it is with me but I think I overworked myself a bit between Annie Tetrising and applying for jobs and the headlight and all those things. I haven't yet thanked Fenchurch for the pillow. LAME
Ok I took care of that.
Speaking of Annie Tetris, it's looking good. I fixed a major problem with it that caused it to take a million years to load. I had cut all 10 backgrounds into 180 squares each, and loading all those 1800 squares took ages. Today I realized how stupid it was for me to have cut them up at all. I can have a solid background, and just use invisible squares over top of it.
That probably doesn't make sense but the point is it loads immeasurably faster now, and there's no need for a stupid progress bar or anything. What a dumb mistake. Redbeard3 was saying that that's the way it goes, your first attempt is often way more complicated than it needs to be, and later you realize a much simpler solution. Dag nab it.
Now the lines will clear away, and you get a score, it shows how many lines you've cleared, your current level... and now it changes the background image when you go up a level. Oh and you can play the background music. I think that particular remix is quite video gamey sounding.
All that's left now is to program in the other kinds of blocks, and tell it to make the blocks fall by themselves. I think after that it will be finished.
Oh and I just fixed a problem with recognizing key presses. A fellow Annie fan I've been emailing with told me it wasn't working for him so I did a bit of research and discovered that my method for recognizing key presses wouldn't work for Macs using Internet Explorer (and maybe others). Hopefully with the update I just made the problem will be solved.
In spite of the problems, overall Annie Tetris has been a pleasure to make. I can't wait to show it to people when it's all done.
I'm thinking of moving into A's place before the rooms are painted. She's really struggling to find someone to paint them. My aunt has this dude who does home repair type stuff for her, he painted their bathroom among other things. If A has no luck finding somebody I may try to enlist this guy's help. He has no car so I'd have to drive him there myself
I'm feeling a sort of malaise right now. I haven't felt motivated all day, my appetite was nonexistent, I haven't accomplished hardly anything today except work on Annie Tetris. I know the job thing has got me freaked out. Really. I need to regroup.
I THINK THE GERMS ARE REGROUPING
I cannot express how much I dearly love my locking pliers. Redbeard3 and I were discussing last night the various creative ways to use them. Roll up a pant leg and clamp them on at an odd angle. Clamp it to the desk. Snap pencils with it. I suggested using it as a bookmark. And I tried it myself. There would be no way I could lose my place with locking pliers as my bookmark. Unless the force is so strong that the pages rip asunder. Which is quite possible.
I think I'm pissed because I've eaten all the good food I bought and now I'm back to food dullsville. I may just go to the grocery store and get some tortellini because I don't want stupid rice pilaf or tomato rotini soup or egg noodles or plain rotini in tomato sauce. Bleh.
Now it's time to take a shower. Hopefully it will help relax and refresh me.
