Although... Sophie was born April 10 and Sarah Cracknell April 12. Aieeeee!

You guys rock!! Those of you who have offered to play chess with me, I'll let you know when I've sufficiently refreshed my memory of the rules and some basic strategy. I'll read that new chess book I bought and see if that gets me any further along the learning path. Then I'll get in touch and maybe we can play!

I was looking for a new flat screen monitor on the Circuit City site. It looks like if I want anything more than a 1024x768 resolution I have to spend at least 225 bucks. Maybe I should return to the stone age and get a big boxy tube monitor, they're probably cheaper, right? And I bet they offer even higher resolutions than 1280x1024, which is what I'd get for a $225 flat screen. Bleah.

You know, I feel pretty dumb. I just checked the hosting packages of my current host. The hosting package I've been on only gives 200 MB storage. I thought it was way more than that because I store a pretty large amount of stuff on there (or so I thought). I actually downloaded all the files I store on thonky recently, and it only takes up around 50-60 MB. So I guess I freaked out about only having 100 MB storage on the first tier of hosting with the new host, when it turns out I could probably make do with 100 MB after all. Maybe I'll ask to be downgraded next month. But getting 5 gigs for $25 a month is probably a pretty good deal in the grand scheme of things.

So I've sort of opened The Annieverse for business, but it desperately needs a better layout (I should make some sort of logo maybe), and there are as yet only two sections open, the lyrics archive (moved from the old one) and the faq.

I had these cool redirect pages for the old lyrics archive but I decided to change it such that when you go to one of the old pages, it opens up the new page in a frame so it looks like nothing has changed, but then it secretly breaks out of the frame when you click a link. TRICKY!! For kicks here is an example of the redirect pages I had up before the new thingies. Fun fun!

So now you can read the questions I put in for the faq. Hardly anything there yet. I guess it's a good start. I've written more questions/answers than that but my head feels like it's been beaten by a cauldron full of bricks after having tried to improve the FAQ layout, so those questions won't appear until I can figure out how to make that page look nicer (meaning tomorrow probably).

Next I need to tackle the discography. I don't even know where to start looking for information on the stuff she's released. There are some early releases from back around '99 like Greatest Hit, and later in 2001 with I Will Get On. I'll have to get over my shyness and ask on the official forum. I won't ask Annie though, that's not a question for her to answer.

A complete discography quite an undertaking even for a relatively new artist, and I shouldn't expect to get a lot of information up in a short span of time. I mean... aside from tracking down all the 12" singles and other things, I have to document ALL the releases of Anniemal, wherever it's been released around the world. I only know of the UK and US releases. Sort of. Maybe that's all so far. But I'll be needing help with that.

And I'm going to try to take inspiration from the Björk.com discography because it's excellent... but man. You can see what I mean by "quite an undertaking".

I'm no good at this design stuff. I just know how to make tables, as you can see on the faq and lyrics pages. I mean, tables can look ok if they're done right. I can't get past 2 colors though, it seems. And given the current huge faded background of Annie on the home page... I don't know how to work with that. If I go with that background, the home page content will all just be floating down the left side. Like the lyrics page. Uhhhh. Suggestions??

Okay so now my head really does hurt from trying to get the stupid FAQ page to look better. I think I'm going to have to resort to frames. I mean, it will make for smoother navigation. But I'm either going to have to figure out another background or I'll have to just go without any background at all. Maybe I can work a picture of Annie into the header somehow. Ughhhhhh.

That's enough Annieversing for one night. Who wants to bet I start working on it again in a few hours?
