This entry is a photo diary of L7rules' package to me, but first...

Thanks for your concern y'all. Sorry to worry you AGAIN. And thank you SO MUCH for the rad pictures!!!!!!! I loooooooved them. I should ask for cheer-up pics more often biggrin

Feeling much better now. It just gets kind of bad before bedtime, when the meds from the night before seem to wear off.

I will say one good thing I'm doing for my health though, on NoControl's repeated (and much appreciated) advice I have been drinking more water. Lots more. And now my evening headaches (probably due to dehydration) seem to have gone away, AND my chronic chapped lip problem has improved dramatically kiss They're still chapped but much less so. But I have two things of Burt's Bees lip balm, which mostly takes care of what's left of the chapped-ness.

ANYway instead of delving into old photos and doodles in this entry, this time I will document the supercool package L7rules sent me that I got a day or so ago.

This is the box it came in. Our addresses are fuzzed for our privacy. I love the smiley-face tape and the SG sticker biggrin

On this side as well as the opposite, L7rules wrote "Annie". I thought that was awesome biggrin That is certainly a name that puts me in a good mood these days.

This is what I saw when I opened the box. Note the awesome stickers. I fuzzed our names again for privacy. I thought the packing peanuts were cool biggrin

One of the first things I got out of the box, a pen in a case. (I think the case gave me the huge papercut that now graces my thumb, note the stain on the foam padding near the opening. BUT WHATEVZ I don't care. Please don't feel bad L7rules.) The foam padding had these little round metal things in little slots and I didn't know what they were for. So I took the pen out of the case and noticed a button. Here's what happened when I pressed the button:

Flashy pen biggrin (Sorry if the image is dark, I have a broken version of ImageReady that won't actually brighten animations or change the contrast.) So I realized those round metal thingies are batteries.

Next up, a ring labeled "Flashing Glow Ring". I took it out of the package and slipped it on (it's a sort of rubbery gummy thing so I had to wiggle it on there).

I followed the instructions pressing the top of the ring and this is what I saw:

Next in the package I saw some different types of stickers, a temporary tattoo, and a kind of decal with the PS2 logo that you can stick on a window or similar surface:

After that I saw the CDs that were the main point of the package! He sent me lots of stuff! We had talked about If I Were A Carpenter, and he said he'd send some L7 CDs along, so I got those as well as some bonus discs! (I moved parts of this image to make it smaller and had to mess with it, so it looks kind of weird.)

In the bottom package were a couple demo copies of two PS2 games biggrin

And that was that! I love getting packages biggrin I'm going to be sending out some CDs to friends very soon and I like sending them as much as receiving them.

So yeah I got a new CD-RW drive biggrin biggrin biggrin It works great and is SO QUIET. Ripping CDs doesn't seem to go any faster than with the old one. I haven't tried burning anything with it yet but all the reviews said it's super-fast.

I already burned 6 CDs for my friends using the old drive and I'm scared that they have issues since the old CD drive had issues itself. I just listened to two of the discs I burned and they seem pretty much ok. Anniemal sounds fine straight through. Hopefully the others are ok too.

L7rules was saying that the problems I was having with the old CD drive could have been a software problem, but I tried ripping the CD with both dBpowerAMP's CD Grab program AND Chun-yu's mp3 ripping Winamp plugin. With both of them the mp3 had the issues. Could have been a driver problem maybe? I dunno. The problem was it just had issues reading discs sometimes.

But I just tested the new drive, ripping a track that was always screwed up with the old one, and it's PERFECT. So yeah. Happy customer, yadda yadda yadda. ("It's a Sony!" by the way.)

Brief funny story: to get that video clip of Annie performing/receiving award at that Norwegian awards show (mentioned it yesterday, still haven't watched), I had to decipher some Norwegian to register for the site, and I thought that where they said "last name" was for middle name and where they said "username" was for last name. Luckily it gave me an error so I didn't make an account with my last name as my username.

Norwegian is apparently a Germanic language but my 2 or 3 years of German didn't help much. But it also didn't help that I haven't been studying it or speaking it with any regularity for about 2 years. WIE GEHT ES IHNEN, ARSCHLOCH?

I got pretty good with German, you know. I picked up on it really quickly, it seemed I was a natural. But keeping track of the more advanced grammar rules got really hard in the end. Plus that's when I was really starting to struggle in school (i.e. when the depression got bad) so it wasn't a good time for me to try to learn.

I was good enough that I was able to get into the school's language immersion dorm, I lived with a group of girls and we were all supposed to speak German all the time but of course we didn't. WE SPOKE FRENCH just kidding. English all the time. There were other apartments in the building for other languages, Japanese, French, Spanish, etc. It was a good bunch of people, but like I said that's when I started getting really super-depressed. I decided to move out of the dorms and back in with mom (this was two years ago), was put on the Wellbutrin, had the mania, had the accident trying to drive to school. So I guess moving out was a bad decision.

But whatever. I really enjoy learning new languages and I often look for excuses to try one. However I've had zero success trying to teach myself languages on my own. I would have to take a class I think. And since I was never successful in becoming fluent in German, I think I'd have to go to a country where my target language is spoken most, and live there for a while. A true immersion environment.

Now I'm curious to learn Norwegian of course. What a dork.

But I could never get the guttural R sound right in German mad I bet Norwegian uses that too damn it. I couldn't get the slightly-less-guttural-but-still-pronounced-in-the-throat R sound in French right either, which I took throughout high school (don't remember much of that anymore... might take a refresher course one day though, and ditto for German).

I was listening to Buckingham Nicks, the album that Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks released together before joining Fleetwood Mac when they were still a couple (it's awesome, download it, it's never been released on CD or cassette) and I got kind of choked up listening to "Races Are Run". Such a beautiful song. Stevie wrote it I think *proud*

Races are run
some people win
some people always have to lose
Oh-oh-oh... yeah

no the pic i put in your journal is the small one. i emailed you again. actually i sent 2 emails. 1 with nothing. 2 with large photo. tell me if you get them. and if not we'll figure some other way confused eeek confused

ive never tried DeepBurner but i will check it out. when copying cds or making a mix cdthe sopftware tends to make corrections. i use nero. and it always adds 2 or 3 seconds between songs. you can change this. at least in nero if you want to. like you want the 2 songs to mix seamlessly you can add seconds or remove them completely and make your album one big song. it will still have breaks so you can ff and rewind. im planning on making a few mix cd's tommorow we today when i wake up lol i have tue off YAY!!!!
i also to fri-sat-sun off.

im gonna work on my L7 logo now

feeling good on top of the pops
when you make it me plus one
