Real ad copy from my Lego monthly catalog
Ever since I ordered me a Lego pirate ship set (for Lego afficionados it's this, couldn't find a better picture and it looks like they don't sell it no more), ever since then I get this catalog in the mail every month. I lurrrrve it. I haven't bought anything else since the pirate ship but the pictures and ad copy are fun to look at. I wish I played chess, they make a chess set now and it is the awesome. They're really tempting me with their Alpha Team Ogel's Mountain Fortress set. I'm not crazy about the set itself (it's like a frozen world themed thing) but it includes these little see-thru things that you can put a little Lego person inside and pretend they're frozen in ice!
I have this fascination with freezing things in ice. It's weird. When I was little I had a Donatello TMNT action figure, and I actually got a plastic bag, filled it with water, and put Donatello in there and put it in the freezer. Then I got a cooking pot and brought the frozen Donatello back to my room and played out some frozen-in-ice scenarios while he slowly melted. From time to time I think about doing that sort of thing again. Similarly, again when I was little, I'd visit my dad and grandma who had a dog who often had fleas, I would catch a flea and pour Elmer's glue all over it so I could see it suspended in the clear glue when it dried. It's not just an ice thing then, it's a "suspended in clear substance" thing. I also am fascinated by scenes in movies and TV where a character is in a tube of water with life support and breathing stuff attached. That is pretty silly but I guess that means I'm not the only one fascinated by that kind of thing. Oh yeah and Zelda from Legend of Zelda getting trapped inside a crystal? Hot. She shouldn't have been able to move inside the crystal though. Okay that sounded creepy.
The following was going to go at the beginning of the entry, but I realized it would look pretty crappy in people's bookmarks (not that it looks any less crappy now), so here it is.
-------
Since "Close To You" has been stuck in my head ALL DAY LONG (!!!!) I can't think of any other lyrics right now. It's probably for the best, lyrics just look messy every time I post them. Maybe only at the end from now on.
ARGH I KEEP HITTING THE RONG BOTTONS
-------
Argh. With mom away in NYC I have been stagnating something fierce. I'm supposed to be looking for jobs, and I'm not. I need to clean my room, and I haven't. I've been doing nothing productive at all. Meep? I am actually pretty worried and it's like I'm slowly going insane. Pray... for... Mojo...
You know, I really have no idea how I'm able to pull all these funny drawings out of my pants* lately. For a while there I was doing actual comic strips; I bought special pens of various widths and everything. Then I got sick of having to wrack my brain all the time to think up ideas (is it wrack? rack? ...racque?) If I hadn't thought to illustrate my entries I wouldn't be drawing at all. Ideas are just coming to me, but I'm not sure how long that will last.
* I liked the sound of "pants" better than "ass"
Oh and sorry for the enormousness of all the pictures. I draw big because the only smaller paintbrush for lines is only a pixel big, and I hate drawing pixel-width lines. They're ooogly. When I do have to resize the pics to fit the journal (the magic number is 513px) the colors get fuzzed into each other and a bunch more colors are introduced. I just realized I just need to force the palette to reduce to 16 colors. The result looks fine if I use the right compression algorithm. But the original drawings often contain less than 10 colors total. They may be huge in size but they should all load really fast.
Also I draw everything with just the mouse. I don't have a fancy tablet thingy. I don't know when it happened but I got pretty good at drawing with the mouse. I'm really lazy about drawing hands though, as you may or may not have noticed.
I had this awful idea to draw a certain someone from a photograph in MS Paint, and have a text bubble next to that certain someone, and use that gimmick to have this person say a bunch of hilarious things. The person would be smiling and I'd probably have said person say a bunch of horrible stuff that belies the happy expression. I can't think of anything to have the person say though. Since I'd be using the same image every time I'd be stealing from the fabulously hysterical dinosaur comics. His idea is funnier anyway.
I am a total journal stalker. Mainly because I tend not to leave any comments if I don't think I'll get a response (which is most of the time). As for me I try to reply to every comment I get, no matter who it's from, unless the comment creeps me out. So if I don't reply, either 1) you creeped me out or 2) I got lazy or 3) I missed your comment because I updated (usually I check the last entry to make sure I didn't miss anybody but not always). I actually fret over the fact that I don't reply in order, because I worry that one of you will see I've commented to someone else ahead of you. Jesus.
Speaking of which it's gotten to the point that I've been sitting at the computer so much I start to feel sick. As I type this Star Wars Episode II is on pause (sooooo bad) because I'm trying to do something that doesn't involve sitting at my computer. The only reason I'm sitting here typing this now is the fact that Sabrina was sitting by the door out of my room and I didn't want to move her so I was stuck in. She's moved now, so bye.
Oh and the song is out of my head now so here are some lyrics.
I'm sorry that I doubted you
I was so unfair
you were in a car crash
and you lost your hair
you said that you would be late
about an hour or two
I said "that's all right, I'm waiting here
just waiting to hear from you"
Will you be able to make it to the next party?
i need a box instant motivation. where can i get some????
