The grid is divided up into rectangular "rooms". The rooms can be any width and height. Some rooms have a number inside; that indicates how many black squares should be filled in inside of it. If a room says "2", that means there should be two black squares filled in somewhere in that room.

You can't have black squares next to each other, but you can have them diagonally, so once you place a black square, you have to mark each side with a white circle, so you know not to color those places in.

You cannot block off areas of white squares with black squares. Any white square can be reached by following the "path" of white squares around the grid. There is no restriction to how tall or wide the area of white squares can be.

The only restriction on white squares is that you can't have a line of white squares that extends beyond two rooms. There must be a black square blocking the path of the white squares if they will span three rooms.
