My birthday is drawing nigh. A quarter-century of life, lived to the fullest!
Not really, but it's fun to say, anyway. I don't expect gifts, but they are, of course, more than welcome. June 7 is the big day!
Three of my limericks have received final approval for official inclusion in the OEDILF!
Mom's back from London. She had a wonderful time. She brought back Maryland Cookies and Kinder Eggs! I'll show pics later.
What Americans call "cookies", Brits call "biscuits", so the "Maryland Cookie" name is a bit of an oddity. Even more odd that it bears the name of the state in which I live! I still don't know why they're called that. They are super-tasty.
And those Kinder Eggs are super-fun. A hollow, milk chocolate egg lined with white chocolate (cue Homer drool), containing a little (really hard to open) capsule with a toy you put together yourself! I got a sort of Musketeer guy whose sword arm swings side-to-side when you roll him back and forth (he rolls on little wheels). I also got a football (soccer)-playing horse. The horse's base is magnetic, as is the flat "ball" (which is hexagonal, for some reason). So when you move the horse toward the ball, it gets kicked out by the magnetic field! So cool!
I don't understand why, but when it's hot outside, my room is sweltering. It's maybe five degrees cooler than the outside temperature in here. It's better when I open the doors, but I can't do that if the other cat is in the living room (our cats don't get along). Even then, it is still very muggy and pretty uncomfortable.
We badly need a new A/C unit. For the three or so years that we've lived here, every summer we've had to get more freon put in the unit, because there is a leak somewhere that drains it all out every year. We just had that done this year, before mom left for London, and the A/C guy told us that the unit is so messed up, he had to really struggle to force the freon into it. It took forever.
Since mom spent lots of $$$ on the trip (there's even a thread right now asking why London is so bleeping expensive), I'm not sure when we'll be getting a new unit, but we really do need one badly. I'm not really convinced that it will help my room, though. I think it's just poorly ventilated in here.
Have a nice day!

I told the shopkeeper I'd heard they'd been banned and he said, "All people have to do is read the package that they aren't for children under three," which is of course too much work in the United States of Lawsuit!
