I thought of a fun game. You post the first line of Biz Markie's "Just A Friend" in my journal. When I post the next line in your journal, you post the line after that in my journal, and so on, until the song is over. When one of us gets to the chorus, post the whole chorus as the comment (unless you really want to go line-by-line then; I'm not sure how that will work out. I think it will be more fun to post the whole chorus.). I urge you to download the song so you can join in the fun. (Sure, you could visit a lyrics site, but you know how horrible those are.) In my next journal entry I will post a hall of fame, listing everyone who stepped up to the challenge. Oh, and please don't spoil the fun by posting the entire remainder of the song as your comment. I know it might be tempting, but that is a rule. Oh, and also, try to avoid making commentary as you go. This is serious business. Ready GO!
OMG guess what. My Annie fan site got mentioned in an Annie article. In the same sentence as Pitchfork Media!
I would start a "will you please fix my broken thread?" thread in Everything SG to list all the horribly broken threads all over the site, but I'm sure staff would ignore/close/delete it. (In fact, I'm sure such a thread has already been started [and ignored/closed/deleted].)
My rule for nesting parentheses is ([{}]). But what do you do when you run out of those? You could continue with <>, I guess. And . And you could start throwing out some really wacky Unicode characters like and , just for kicks. I dare you to legitimately nest enough parentheses to use all of those (and more, if you're really good). I'm full of challenges tonight!
There is a thread called "IWhat are you thinking about RGHT now?" and whenever I see it, I wonder, "how did that I get all the way over there?" See what I mean?
Let me tell you something. For the word association thread, my method of association is weird. For one thing, I scroll to the very bottom of the page, then slowly creep upward to the last word posted, so I won't see other words that might distract me from proper association. THEN usually what happens is I will see the word, and another word will pop into my head based on how the last word looks rather than what it means. The last word posted when I posted earlier was "circle" and it made me think of "cable". WEIRD HUH???
You know, pretty soon it will have been a year since I joined this lovely site. My first ever journal entry was posted on February 28th of last year. It is kind of creepy to read my first journal entries. I'm like... who IS that?? Yuck. Don't go back and read my early journals, please. It's embarrassing.
I have changed a lot in a year. A lot of those changes happened near the end of last year, and I can't remember everything that happened. Meeting Annie was pretty big. Getting a real full-time job (however awful I've come to realize it is) was pretty big. I think some of my stubbornness let up, and I started to welcome things that I'd rejected for years and years. I think I'm a better person now than I was in, say, August.
I know I'm a better friend. I'm seeing myself saying really nice things to my friends, and I know I never used to. It helps that the friends I've made recently actually care about me and don't take me for granted. I feel kind of goofy saying it right now, but never have I felt so loved. (I'd post more about love right now, but, um, I'm feeling a little shy.
)
Okay enough of this mushy stuff. Make with the rappin'!
