7/19: If money and time were no issue, which character would you love to cosplay?
I would love to make a functional set of power armor. I'm talking like eight feet high, power-assisted movement, the works. I have the skills to do it, but the time and money are the real issue. Of course, I'd need more space, as well. Kind of hard to keep an eight-foot tall mech in a one-bedroom apartment. Hoping to move into a house soon, so maybe I'll get started.
More realistically, I've actually been working on a few cosplays. I've turned an old Navy jumpsuit into a vaultsuit, and I'm working on making a pip-boy that can house my cell phone.
I think I've got everything I need for my Remus Lupin, too. As much as I absolutely love David Thewlis, I like the idea of Lupin looking a little more homeless. So my Lupin cos will be "book version." I still need a little work on the facial scars, but I've got a good start on the makeup. I really just need to smooth out the edges (advice welcome!).
And then, getting back to the "what if" topic of this homework, I'd love to make a werewolf version of Lupin. I've been doing the research for digitigrade stilts, extended arms, and a head and mouth that will move when I move. Maybe I'll start with the stilts, and go from there.
In other, non-blog homework news, I'm finishing up my first of two weeks of paid time off. Next week, I'll be starting the orientation for my new job, and then in August, I'll be teaching. It will be nice to be on a set schedule and on salary again. This hourly retail bullshit is... well... bullshit.
I hope everyone is doing okay out there.
