its too hot. my ac unit doesnt seem to be blowing cold air anymore and i live on the top floor of my building. so i've escaped to the bar across the street and i'm luxuriating in the dark coolness here while i drink a pint of 6 point.
work is crap at the moment. its just insane how much my work load has increased while my hypocritical boss spends her time cracking the whip and making personal calls.
thank god i have the world cup as an escape. i almost didnt make it out of the office today for lunch i was so slammed but i was glad i did. just walking around in soho today during the brazil v japan game made me realize how much the world cup brings people together. it really the world's greatest party. the usually pretentious and slightly annoying neighborhood was transformed into a meeting ground for yellow shirt wearing brazil fans and every cafe had the game on. you could literally walk down the street and keep tabs on the game just by listening to the cheers pouring out of the establishments. it really put me in a great mood.
so my team France plays their third game tomorrow and its do or die. if they beat Togo by at least 2 goals they advance to the second round. anything less and they take the short flight back home. im nervous yet cautiously optimistic that this will be their break-out game. the team is starting to gel finally and they just need a great result to get things cooking.
allez les bleus!
