Thanks for the good luck. Whatever it was you all did, it worked.

It actually couldn't have gone better. We had dinner at Lawry's in Beverly Hills and we were served by the classic waitress with the stiff white bonnet. She looked as though she was in her late 60's and her nametag said Miss Geis. The atmosphere was alien to me, since I'd never been there before, but I was comfortable once A. arrived, albeit a bit late. He was always one to run late.

We had two huge prime rib dinners although we didn't stop talking for most of it, so it took a while to get through our meals. The conversation was smooth and absent of uncomfortable silences. We talked about our families, our jobs, our ambitions, our friends, and our futures. He looked healthy and happy, and new to me, which was really refreshing. I'm so glad we were able to do this and I'm even happier that he was comfortable with it.

On my way home at about 10:30, I called Brian and gave him the highlights, and he was happy to hear things had gone so well between us. I never really had a doubt. It was more about being anxious to see someone who means so much after so long. And the best part was that he said he would be able to make it to the wedding.
