I'm going to try to hither and thither away from the city, stuff my head full of books, as well as get in some zazen.
My mind and my body need some well deserved rest, though I'll likely be cooking meals and relieving my family from the stress of doing daily work when my Nanny got so close to Lady Death last week that she was tickled by her hairy teats. But she's one tough son of a bitch - a Frenchwoman born in Detroit, Michigan.
The guest room (matress on the laundry room floor) will be all made up.
My stepfather will get mad at me over an imagined slight invented from old grudges.
My grandfather will surely be in a state like I've never seen him, beaten down, punch drunk from the whole affair.
My sister will be like a new person.. like she is every time I see her. I wish I could be around to dispatch more brotherly advice.
My mother will be both happy and sad at the same time - happy to see me, but sad knowing that the time will be short.
My Nanny will be in good spirits, weak, and hopefully not filled up with too many tubes. Hopefully she'll be able to come home for Christmas.
If you see me out there.. (and some of you most certainly will) I could use a shoulder rub or some ice cream.
Because I could use it.
