When it comes to films I'd say I'm a tough crowd - a casually vicious critic who expects only the best of the best. But that means when something comes along and flips my wig I'm happy as a Hashisist initiate in a gardenful of sacred prostitutes soaking in sunshine and opiates.

When video stores disappear (as they will) I'll miss the delightful opportunity to browse where I tend to note down films that look interesting and add to my never-completed "to view" list. About 1 year ago I noted down a little film made by the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo (of "Weird Science" [the song] fame) called "the Forbidden Zone."



Thanks to the delightful GPod directory, who intuits my tastes perhaps better than anything else aside from friends close & wise, provided the film for download. So I downloaded it and kind of forgot that I had.

I watched it this weekend.. and HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT. This is the best cult musical since Rocky Horror and equal to Rocky Horror in terms of bizarre and wonderful. (I would put it above Rocky Horror, but Rocky's songs are still a bit catchier)

I want to enter the door to the Sixth Dimension, a world of sex, dice, midget-kings, weirdness, the Devil playing Cab Calloway on the piano, and casual violence..

I've been watching a ton of films lately, and this is easily the best of the lot for a long while.

So recommend me something off-kilter and bizarre, and I'm going cross my fingers that I haven't seen it.
