Another good day. Two in a row, so I'm on a roll.

I woke up this morning rather early for a Saturday, since my parents were coming into town and we had arranged a meeting with my real estate broker. I'm thinking of taking the big plunge and buying an apartment in manhattan, and they know a lot about real estate, so I wanted them to sit in on the meeting. And they were going to be in the city anyway.

I met with the broker, only it wasn't just her, there was this other guy there. My broker is great, she's maybe 25 or 26, kinda new but really cool. This guy was not. He was maybe 60 or 65, and a total condescending asshole. I told him name three times and he never got it right. Fucker. The whole time he kept taking what I had said and then repeating it back to and my parents, only trying to make it sound like his idea, and then expecting us to fall down at his feet with gratitude for telling us. Since my parents were there I didn't want to make a complete ass out of him at the meeting, for their sake. They get embarrassed with that sort of thing. So I waited until the end of the meeting. After he got finished congratulating himself for his useful advice, he thanked us for coming, though I declined to shake his hand when he fucked my name up again. I told him thanks, but in the future I'll only be dealing with Lisa, the junior woman the he kept cutting off the whole time. Give her the damned commission, I don't want to finance that guy.

But otherwise the meeting went well - it looks like I may actually be able to afford something, which completely blows my mind. More on this as it develops.

Then my parents and I met up with my sister to see a new show, called 'Take me out.' It was awesome. It's a play about a hotshot baseball player who's gay and decides to come out of the closet. Totally funny, brilliant acting and kind of thought provoking at the same time. I was a huge fan, and gave them all a standing ovation.

Then, at my suggestion, we hit up the Russian Vodka Room down the street. Although they were out of Kremliovskaya and Rain vodka, I finally got a Belvedere martini and started the night off right. My dad joined me. My sister and mother drank red wine (why would you drink that at a bar with Vodka as part of its name?)

Headed down to dinner at Fiamma, this place in Soho that I've been wanting to check out, and the parents paid for it. It's my sister's birthday, hence the festivities. Dinner was amazing. I had a seafood salad appetizer that was nice and light. Then a red snapper in a light cream sauce with chanterelle mushrooms. So good. And finally this thinly sliced green apple dessert served on a puff pastry, with a shot of cinnamon flavored shake on the side.

While I would never consider myself particulalry bourgeois, I don't complain when my parents decide to come to town and take me and my sister out. Call me a whore, I'll deal with it.

Got home and the roomies (and our fun friend Amy) were hanging out, watching the South Park second season DVD set. Did that for a while, and now here it is, 11:30, and I'm looking for something to do. I'd love to go out drinking, but no one is around! Oh well.

Hey - if anyone from SG is in New York and feels like getting a drink right now, let me know! Apparently I'm not cool enough to be in the SGNY group (I applied when I joined, but never heard anything back) so I'm reduced to just asking around.

Hope everyone out there is having fun on their Saturday nights, and I'll be writing again tomorrow.

Ta!

how awesome is that?
i love visiting the 'rents in nuevo york and having them treat me to everything, and that's what i love about new york. i can barely afford columbus, so lord knows i ain't moving there. but i do love the hustle, bustle, and class of that city.
but when i come back to columbus, and i can be the only one walking down the main street near my house, and the downtown area of my neighborhood, and i can get my cup of coffee from people who ask me about my life, and i can see a movie down the street for $7, why would i ever want to leave?
(and it hasn't snowed here yet, either. ha!)
(now, of course that i said that, it's going to snow eight feet by tomorrow, and they'll require my presence at work)
