hi.

i just found out that my father, who is a 50 year old government contractor for the army, is on 'standby' to go to the middle east. he could be deployed at any moment. my mother has shit health and he is the person who takes care of her.

generally i am not terribly political, nor am i terribly sincere in this journal. let's take a pause from that for a moment.

if you have a protest coming up in your town, and you are even remotely anti war, please go out and march. not for me and my dad, but because they are deploying more and more troops, and if fighting begins, even little skirmishes, you will lose a friend. or a friend of a friend. an uncle, a cousin. this is real shit, people. it is happening.

i'm not trying to change anyone's mind about the issues or why we should or shouldn't be over there. that's not really what i'm good at. all i'm doing is saying, if you think george bush is a putz, and you think this "war on terrorism" is ridiculous bullshit, please do more than think and go march.

protests are already reaching vietnam war era levels of participation. you do have a voice and sheer numbers do send a message. at this point of the game, marching is the best direct action you can take.

to find out if there is a march coming up in your area please check out pax.protest.net or indymedia.org. if you are in the bay area, there is a large march tomorrow (saturday), which starts at 11am at the foot of market street. near the embarcadero station.
