One has some interesting dreams when one nods off while watching the 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', alone in the dark. At one point I was driving a tractor lawnmower down Main Street in Winnipeg, but it was a gravel road, and the houses on both sides of the street looked like either the Hamilton House with its porch and its seances and its ectoplasm, or Leatherface's...

I think the only part people found scary was when we got out of the bus in the Market Square area, in the dark, and the glue-sniffing/alcohol soaked 'beggars' started surrounding us. One thing about the good old Square, it doesn't matter whether it's day or night, you're always going to be approached by some foul smelling people. Not so much when the Fringe is...

I was filling out the forms to get a Canadian passport today, and I noticed that they now need two personal references that cannot be any type of relative, in addition to the normal guarantor. Each has to have known you for at least two years.

I can't quite figure out why the guarantor is no longer enough. I'm a professional and therefore I can...

Barbara Bush in Houston:

"Almost everyone I've talked to says 'we're going to move to Houston.' What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (chuckling slightly) is working very well for them."

The stuff that goes on in that country renders me speechless. And to think I once contemplated moving there. I think I'll wait til they come to their senses and make Howard Dean president. frown

I finally finished reading 'The Neverending Story' yesterday. Did you know that the movie is only half the book? Sort of like the original film version of 'Wuthering Heights'. Now I'm debating whether or not it's finally time to read 'The da Vinci Code'. I'm told it's a good book for a good (former) Roman Catholic boy like me to read.

There was a massive...

I had very much fun finally getting to see boyinbrown and Colette79's band last night, even if my zonked out head took me to the wrong pub first. The highlight had to be the Drunk Birthday Man pulling Cai up to dance. I should have brought my camera. The tunes were really good too. I hope to meet up with all you guys again...

Hi There

I just read your Sept 1st journal entry and I really wish that more people with the power to change things would feel like that. I don't know a whole lot about the US politics but I know enough to realize that it has definitely taken too long for "the powers that be" to assist their own people. It's shameful really.

I hope you have a great day at the lake smile

Lou Dobbs is a fucking idiot.

I hate this friggin' CBC strike. I'm stuck watching CNN all the time because of it.

I got rid of all of my tapes so I no longer have every "one-hit-wonder" from the 1980's.

I just can't believe that things don't seem to have changed much from yesterday. I simply cannot believe it.
