I'm starting to think that there may be something wrong with my cat. He sleeps all the time, except when he eats, or he wants to be patted or brushed. After he eats or drinks or uses the litter box he has the most mournful meow, like he's in pain. When I call to him he quiets down, though. He's normal, otherwise, still affectionate and friendly. He doesn't warm up to other people now, he just comes to me for attention. He just turned 19, and he used to be a pretty fat cat, but he seems rather boney now.

I'm afraid to take him to the vet because I'm terrified that he won't end up coming back home with me, and I don't think I can deal with that right now (is anyone really ready to deal with that ever?). I mean, he's been my best friend for 19 years. 19 years.
