Life is pretty good. Mostly. Except for work. And BB5. And the weather. And Letterman reruns.
It's my Mom and Dad's 57th Anniversary on Saturday. 57 years, 11 children, 18 grandchildren. 8 of us kids still live in Winnipeg, which is almost unheard of these days. Most of my university friends left the city after graduation.
Dad grew up on a farm in western Manitoba. Dad joined the navy during the war serving on a Corvette in the conveys over to the UK. His parents were angry with him when he joined up. After the war, he went back to university, got a degree in History (like me) and then ultimately went into business (like me). He became a General Manager and I became a CFO. His fiirst love is sales (as in a salesman) though, but I hate selling things.
Mom grew up in Winnipeg. She started university around the end of the war, met my Dad, they got married, she stopped taking classes, had 11 kids, and then went back to university after my baby sister started school and finished her degree. It was only a 20 year or so break. I think that's pretty cool.
