Watching 'Amazing Race' this evening made me think about going skydiving again.
Back in the summer of 1995 I did it 12 times, but it was always solo jumps, so the chute mostly opened within a few seconds. Those tandem dives look like a lot of fun because you get to free fall for so long. And I wouldn't think it would be nearly as scary either, with someone else in control of everything.
Every time I'd be in that plane after my first jump, I'd be so friggin scared, and asking myself why I was doing it again, that I had already proven that I could do it. And then I'd dutifully step out of the cessna and fall (dive?jump?). But when that chute opened, it was the greatest thing in the world.
Hang gliding was a lot of fun too.
